On the Cover: Built for Adventure — Built for You
Cruisers Yachts’ All-New VTR Series strikes a balance between performance and versatility.
When Cruisers Yachts set out to design the VTR, the mission was clear: create a series that embodies adventure, versatility, and comfort without compromise. The all-new 38 VTR marks the debut of this next-generation lineup, built from the keel up for those who expect intelligent design and uncompromising capability.
“The VTR is more than just a new boat — it’s a new way to think about boating,” says Mark Pedersen, President of Cruisers Yachts. “We’ve created a platform that delivers yacht-level quality in a versatile, family-ready package. It’s where luxury meets utility, and it’s built right here in the U.S. for the next generation of boaters.”
With sleek hydrodynamic lines, optimized weight distribution, and an intelligently engineered layout, the VTR Series introduces a new level of control and confidence on the water. Every detail — from propulsion to ergonomics — has been refined to deliver rugged performance with refined precision.
Engineered for Adventure
The 38 VTR was crafted for those who refuse to choose between performance and versatility. With engineered stability, efficiency, and responsive handling, these yacht-certified vessels adapt effortlessly — whether carving through open water, exploring hidden coves, or navigating shallow bays.
“The hull bottom design on the VTR was a focal point from the start. Our goal was to strike a balance between ride quality, handling and efficiency,” says Josh Delforge, Cruisers Yachts VP of Operations and Engineering. “To achieve this, we worked with our partners at DLBA Naval Architects to create a hybrid stepped hull that is a cross between a v-hull and a double step hull. The end product allowed us to have the stability we were after while still taking advantage of the partial ventilated steps on the chines.”
An optional aft-facing sunlounge positions guests close to the waterline, while a fold down beach door quickly extends your swim platform at the touch of a button. Integrated mounting options allow for Thule roof racks, rod holders, or a tow bar, while the oversized transom storage accommodates anything from boards, skis, tubes, and dive equipment with ease. “I see these types of boats like the SUV for the water — these boats have the personality of the Explorer, the Adventurer, the athletic go-anywhere/do anything type that live life to the fullest on their own terms,” says Devon Palmer, Cruisers Yachts designer.
Choose Twin Mercury 300 Verado V8 engines or step up to the Twin Mercury 400 V10s for unmatched power and acceleration. The VTR delivers confident handling and intuitive joystick piloting, ensuring smooth, responsive control whether docking in tight quarters or running wide open. The range on a VTR is 250 to 280 nautical miles depending on options and loading conditions.
Configurations & Accommodations
Each VTR model offers a choice of main deck configurations engineered to suit distinct boating styles. The base layout provides you with a spacious transom for easy water access. While options such as the aft bench and sunlounge provide you with additional seating and storage.
According to Palmer, the VTR was all about addressing customer pain points that stick out on other competitor’s models. “Some hallmarks of Cruisers Yachts design that we brought to this segment in the VTR are the single-level deck design and proper American headroom, the spacious beam, and the single walk-around bowrider style.” In the forward cabin, the dinette converts into a cozy berth filled with natural light from the skylight.
Adventure-Ready
For most boaters there is a passion and love for being on the water that draws them to boat ownership. For Palmer, being on the water is much more important. “It is my philosophy that being on the water in and of itself is a source of rejuvenation — the smell of the salt air, the light glistening in the waves, and diving in the water. It is fundamentally why we do what we do bringing our yachts into the world. To be able to offer this rejuvenation and pair it with the ability to haul toys and tools for all the endless activities one can imagine on the water, this was the dream we hoped to fulfill by expanding with the VTR line.”
From the starboard wet bar with optional electric grill to the expansive bow lounge with integrated speakers and foredeck shade, the VTR is built to support both high-energy adventures and relaxing downtime. Single-level cockpits and deep gunwales provide safety and confidence in every maneuver, while strategically placed storage keeps all your gear secure and ready for action.
Built on Proven Craftsmanship
Like every Cruisers Yachts model, the VTR Series is proudly engineered and built in the USA by a team that blends craftsmanship with technical mastery. Each component is tested for performance, durability, and balance. The result: a vessel that feels as solid underfoot as it looks in motion. Paired with sleek exterior design and versatile configurations, the 38 VTR makes every adventure effortless and unforgettable.
