Destination Feature: That Old Florida Charm

Explore Punta Gorda and Englewood, a region of Florida that’s retained its relaxed, authentic feeling.

Southwest Florida’s coastal stretch remains a gem for recreational boaters, offering a mix of serene bays, Gulf access, friendly marinas, and boat-up dining. Here’s a snapshot of where to dock, dine, and explore by water in the Charlotte Harbor area.

Marinas and Docking

In a place where waterways are as traveled as highways, marinas here are much more than docking points — they’re gateways to world-class fishing, coastal adventures, and community gatherings. Visitors will find well-equipped facilities, welcoming staff, and amenities designed for both short stays and extended cruising.

Fisherman’s Village Marina
The protected marina at Fishermen’s Village offers over 100 slips for vessels up to 120 feet LOA and 6-foot draft. Known as one of Marina Dock Age Magazine’s “Top 10” marinas and its “Marina of the Year,” it provides 30/50 amp electricity, potable water, and dock boxes. Recent renovations improved dredging and access, making it a standout on Charlotte Harbor.

Laishley Park Marina.

Laishley Park Municipal Marina
Located on the Peace River, Laishley Park Marina features 142 year-round slips and up to 172 during events. The property includes a public launch, bait shop, day room, and boater showers, along with a spacious community room for civic and private gatherings.

Gasparilla Marina
Gasparilla Marina offers wet and dry storage, deep-water access, rentals, and boat sales. Amenities include fixed piers, ample parking, and a stocked ship store. Its indoor facility protects boats up to 40 feet, and its service center handles everything from maintenance to detailing.

Stump Pass Marina
At the entrance to Stump Pass Inlet, this marina offers direct Gulf access, boat storage, fuel, and bait. Guests can enjoy fresh seafood and sunset views at the onsite Lighthouse Grill at Stump Pass.

Eldred’s Marina
A family-owned Placida favorite, Eldred’s provides launch services, docks, parking, island taxi, and charters. Known for its small-town charm, it’s been a trusted Gulf gateway for generations.

Manasota Key Marina
Located at 1450 Beach Road, this marina is ideal for anglers, offering fuel, live bait, tackle, and charters through Reef Raider Charters.

Punta Gorda Marina
With nearly 40 years of community roots, Punta Gorda Marina delivers full-service maintenance, repairs, storage, and haul-outs with 15- and 35-ton lifts. The Woolston family recently returned to management, continuing its legacy of trusted local service.

Cape Haze Marina
Just moments from Stump Pass, Cape Haze Marina offers 105 wet slips, dry storage, and modern amenities near Marker 8.

Chadwick Cove Resort & Marina
Steps from the Gulf on Manasota Key, Chadwick Cove provides daily to monthly dockage for transient and liveaboard vessels, with water and electric hookups and complimentary pump-outs. Guests can walk to nearby beaches, restaurants, and shops.

Harbor at Lemon Bay
This boutique dry-storage marina near Manasota Key accommodates boats up to 40 feet with fuel services and easy Gulf access. It’s a perfect launch point for exploring Boca Grande, Charlotte Harbor, and Pine Island Sound.

Skip’s Placida Marina
Revived in 2014 after years of vacancy, Skip’s Placida Marina serves boaters and anglers alike with access from Placida Road and the Intracoastal.

Stump Pass Marina.

Boat-Accessible Beaches

Stump Pass Beach State Park
At the southern tip of Manasota Key, this barrier-island park offers beaches, snorkeling, and quiet anchorages — perfect for a scenic boating stop.

Don Pedro Island State Park
Accessible only by boat, Don Pedro Island offers unspoiled beaches, shelling, and nature trails amid pristine coastal habitat.

Waterfront Dining

Riviera Bar & Grill
A Punta Gorda favorite with water views, live music, and dock access, Riviera pairs laid-back charm with vibrant entertainment Thursday through Sunday.

Village Brewhouse
Located in Fishermen’s Village, this spot serves hand-pattied burgers, wraps, and craft beers in a relaxed setting with daily specials.

Landy’s Restaurant
Known for fresh seafood, hand-cut meats, and a “cook your catch” service, Landy’s combines casual dining with outdoor seating and a lively happy hour.

Sandbar Tiki & Grille
A true Englewood Beach staple, Sandbar Tiki & Grille features barbecue by certified pitmasters, beach views, and daily live music. Boaters can also bring their fresh catch to be prepared onsite.

Farlow’s On the Water

Farlow’s On the Water
Set on Ainger Creek in Englewood, Farlow’s is a well-known, open-air waterfront restaurant blending Caribbean flair with Southern comfort.

Lighthouse Grill & Tiki Bar
Located at Channel Marker 17A in Englewood, this tiki-style eatery is a go-to for sunset cocktails and water views.

(Because boaters often time arrivals around lunch or sunset, it’s best to call ahead to confirm dock space.)

Nature & Eco Tours

Visitors can experience bird-watching cruises, mangrove paddle excursions, or guided snorkel tours around Stump Pass or Lemon Bay. Local outfitters also offer eco-boat adventures highlighting the region’s coastal wildlife and aquatic preserves.

Southwest Florida continues to be a top destination for boaters seeking beauty, convenience, and vibrant coastal culture — all accessible from the water.
